This sideboard was an absolute joy to transform into this statement piece! The design on the doors is my own, and is a very detailed and slightly 3D creation made out of a paper clay and wooden moulding (please see close up photos to show this better). I wanted something lightweight and hard setting when dry, to add interest and depth. The drawers and inside have also been painted and lined with beautiful wallpaper, so it has beauty inside as well as out :-).

Asides from the overall decadence of the Deco period, the inspiration for the artwork was a mixture of dirty London buildings and tube stairs, Claridges Hotel entrance doors (bet it’s lovely INSIDE too! Hehe) brass wall plaques, statues, a 1930s lamp, and a picture of my grandma as a young girl (used to have her hair wound round and pinned to each side of her head, like she was wearing big headphones - if that makes sense!)

I wanted this piece to be joyous to look at and give a sense of freedom and carefree antics, like ‘painting the town red’, only, gold instead 😄. This is the kind of piece that’ll get plenty of attention in anyone’s home - a one off, statement piece, as well as being roomy and very practical! 🙌🏼🤩✨
